From a survey of 3,000 new moms, 82% of those new moms reported feeling lonely. In another study done by Ohio State University, they found that 66% of parents reported feeling lonely.
My life changed in February when I had a beautiful baby girl. I was talking to a few other new moms that I know, and we all reported feeling exactly what these studies proved. We were lonely. We didn’t have things to get us out of the house. This wasn’t the only problem. I found that my friends and I were going to online search engines for many of our parenting questions. To combat these concerns, I created the Rexburg Nurture Network (RNN).
The goal and purpose of the RNN is to give moms with babies and toddlers a place they can go to connect with other moms and get educated on various parenting and child related topics. Below is an infographic that has a small outline of what we do in the RNN. The QR code is a link to my personal phone number. If you have anyone in your circle who might be interested in being part of this group, please send them my information.

The biggest part of this project was the coordinating and putting together the biweekly events. In the RNN, we have done and will continue to do many fun activities that include but are not limited to swimming, going to the library, walks, classes, book club, and crafts.
Below is just a sample of some of the things that have been created as a result of this project.

We now have a group of over 20 moms who get together. We have been able to learn and discuss things and get to know each other. There has been a series of classes in conjunction with RNN based on questions that moms in the group have. We are learning that many of the moms have talents that they are willing to share with their fellow mom community.
The RNN will be continuing into the new year with the eventual goal of becoming an official nonprofit organization in the community. This will be continuing the social media page, coordination of events, and finding a bigger location, to list just a few of the things.
I am excited to continue to watch the impact that this project is providing moms in the Rexburg community.
