Kendra Smith – Wreathburg

Emphasis: Strategic Organization

Project Summary

I worked with the City of Rexburg’s Cultural Arts Department on planning their first annual Christmas event, Wreathburg. This event is a fundraising event for Rexburg’s Tabernacle, as well as an event to get the community of Rexburg involved in spreading the Christmas spirit. I spent over 50 hours during the past three months in the planning, purchasing and advertising for this event.

There were three separate parts of this event that needed to be planned. The first part was the wreath fundraiser. I sold 25 wreath frames for $5 each with the intention of people decorating them and bringing them back. I also collected an additional 25 wreath donations, 50 altogether. These donations will be displayed and available for purchase in the Romance Theater lobby from November 26 – December 3 from 5:00-8:00 PM. All proceeds will go to the efforts of preserving the Tabernacle.

The second part of planning this event was 12 Days of Giveaways. This will go from November 26 – December 20. I wanted to show support to the community by supporting small businesses by purchasing gift cards and having them participate in our December giveaways. There will be 12 “random” days where a wreath will be hidden, at one of the locations previously arranged, with clues on social media of where this wreath may be. The first person to find the wreath will receive a gift card to this location.

The third part of planning this event was the Community White Elephant. This will happen from November 26 – December 20. There will be a Christmas tree displayed in the Romance Theater lobby with gifts underneath. The idea is for community members to bring a wrapped gift and exchange it for a present under the tree. This is to help community members be involved together for this Christmas season.
