Purpose
A few months ago, I was able to start a social media business titled Rave Reviews. Rave Reviews is used to go around small businesses in Rexburg Idaho and review my experience there to share among other locals who might be interested in visiting these places. I’ve been able to promote my posts and see great leaps in engagement with this business as I tailor my post towards my specific audience.
The purpose of this project was to challenge myself in seeing what I could do to get increased engagement and views on my posts. I was able to use a pre-existing social media business that I have used in the past. I’ve been able to work on this for quite a few months now and I wanted to use this class to research and dig deep into different methods of creating more engagement on social media platforms.
The Project
here, I will be showing some of the different projects and post that I was able to work on and publish throughout these last few months. Some of these include regular review posts, but I was also able to incorporate different story and story highlights that I will show as well.

Challenges
As with all projects, come their challenges. This project was one that really did show its challenges especially when it’s all dependent on your audience. I think a lot of the time, it’s hard to gauge what your audience is really wanting to see. You have to be on your a game especially when it comes to constantly posting and being really consistent with your content. Before I was asked to continue this project, it seemed a lot easier to find new places in town to review and to post about. But the challenge came that I was running out of places to review and to experience. This came a lot of time and effort to really look into places that were really unknown and not a lot of people knew about them. I enjoyed this challenge because it made it rewarding when I was able to find a business or store that was more underground, and gave it its voice to have a more positive light. Another challenge came to when I had to reevaluate my audience. I had to make it more broad and start looking outside of just the Rexburg area. There’s lots around us that I wasn’t considering that I could expound my boundaries and include more people and more businesses.
Project Processes
A lot of my project processes was detailed research of small businesses in the area. I also continually had to research my audience and dig a little deeper into what they were asking of me and wanting to see more of. I continually had to also learn more about the businesses that I was reviewing so I could have a clear mind when giving my truthful experience from this business.
Overview of Experience
Overall, this experience was very informative and I enjoyed every second of it. I have had a grand time learning how to run my own social media business and it’s been so rewarding to see the effects of my hard work. I can now say that I’m confident in how to get more engagement and more views on my posts and stories so that my audience is satisfied with my content. Both my personal and professional life has been improved through this project. As my understanding increased, so did my goals. I tried new things and got out of my comfort zone I reaching out to owners and businesses to get more of an understanding of how they begin their process.
Takeaways
Running a social media platform is nothing short of an easy task but it is one of the most rewarding experiences that I’ve had. I’ve been able to experience how research is essential to continually learning how to run this business and also learn more about my audience and how I can cater to their needs. I have learned that it takes a lot of time and effort to be proud of the things that you put out there for other people to see. I learn to be open minded and the things that I could show my audience. Being close minded only shuts you off from your potential and what you can possibly succeed. I will take all of these lessons learned from this project onto future projects and know that it will help me become more successful in the future.
