Purpose
The purpose of this newsletter is to keep everyone updated on company information, boost morale, and increase productivity. Effective internal communication is one of the keys to the success of our business, and as we continue to grow and change, it can be hard for employees to stay updated on everything. The benefits of our newsletter are to promote more frequent corporate and local communication across the company as well as help prevent important information from being overlooked or forgotten. Our newsletter aims to allow room for new content like local projects, employee spotlights, promotions, events, and much more!

Challenges
The biggest challenge was learning how to use InDesign. I had never worked with this program before so it was a major learning curve. After weeks of playing around with different buttons, watching plenty of YouTube tutorials, and getting advice from peers I am more confident than ever. I truly feel like I know the ins and outs of this program to the point where I can add my own flare to each newsletter.
Process
Each newsletter is made with a specific set of steps to ensure that nothing is left out.
It starts with a premade template which has a first main page, various article pages, and an employee anniversary page.
After all newsletter articles for each month have been submitted, I copy and input them into the template one by one. The order of each article is dependent upon its importance. After inputting an article I ensure it has proper grammar and punctuation.
After all articles are in the newsletter I go back and input various design elements. These range from images that authors have submitted with their articles to fun graphics that I create using the Canva website.
Once all articles and graphics are in place, I submit the newsletter for revision to the CEO. Once approved it is published via email to the whole company.
Overview
I truly look forward to creating the internal newsletter every month. It brings me a sense of pride to be able to create something that keeps everyone in the company up to date and able to share their successes. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with my supervisor and peers and learning from them over the last few months. I am so excited to see how much I improve over the next coming year.
Takeaways
There are a few takeaways I have from the last few months working with the newsletter. The first is that it’s never too late to learn something new. I had doubts about learning a new software but with lots of practice and research I’ve come to love the program and its endless possibilities.
The second takeaway is to be confident in your work. At first, I was scared to add my own flare to the newsletter. However, after I became more comfortable I gained confidence and I can see a huge difference in the quality of my work.
My final takeaway is to not be scared of constructive criticism from your peers. They are here to help you succeed and it is key to utilize their knowledge to help your own knowledge grow.
