Because I’m a journalism emphasis, I have an awesome portfolio of writing samples. Between Scroll and the half a dozen other outlets for which I’ve written over the past few years, I have hundreds of articles in addition to photos, videos and podcasts I’ve created. For my senior project, I knew I had to do something different. Writing another handful of articles would just be a drop in an already full bucket.
Instead, I opted to combine two skills I’d hardly touched since my very first semester: graphic design and social media. I felt confident that I could use my basic skills in those fields and add to them to show future employers that my abilities are dynamic.
I also took the opportunity to showcase my articles from my newfound platform. I saw it as a natural way to kill two birds with one stone: adding to my social media presence and showing off my articles. My social media account focuses on hockey, so every time I wrote a hockey article I posted it on my page.

A major scheduling conflict is preventing me from attending the senior showcase in person, so my demonstration takes the format of the video below.
