Project Purpose
For me, this fitness motivation video is all about sharing the passion and dedication I have for living a healthy and active lifestyle. As someone who loves working out, building muscle, nutrition and taking care of my body, I wanted to inspire others to feel empowered to make fitness a part of their daily lives, regardless of their experience level. The project represents more than just showing my journey, it’s about conveying the emotional and mental challenges that come with committing to a fitness routine. My goal was to create something that resonates with people who might be struggling with motivation, and to encourage them to embrace the process of growth, both physically and mentally.
One of the core messages I wanted to communicate through this video is the idea of “choosing your hard.” Being fit takes effort, consistency, and sacrifice, but so does choosing to be lazy or stuck in unhealthy habits. I believe that the effort we put into caring for our bodies pays off in a way that improves our quality of life. Through the video, I wanted to show that the rewards of staying active, whether it’s feeling stronger, having more energy, or simply being proud of your progress, it is always worth doing what makes you healthiest.
This video is for anyone who needs that extra push or reminder that they’re not alone in their fitness challenges. With the help of my mentor, Faith Jeanselme, the editing and filming process was aimed at crafting something that feels both motivating and relatable. By sharing my story and offering advice through motivational words, I hope to inspire others to take action and embrace the benefits of living an active, balanced lifestyle.
The Video
Challenges Encountered
One of the biggest challenges I faced during this was the process of shooting and reshooting the video clips to get the right shots. Filming isn’t as easy as I thought, especially when you’re trying to capture both the physical movement and the emotional energy that gives the right message. I found myself needing to reshoot certain scenes because the lighting wasn’t quite right, or the angle didn’t look as good as I’d thought. There were moments when I was frustrated with how long it took to get the perfect shot, and it required a lot of patience and attention to detail. But in the end, I realized that these extra efforts were needed to create a good overall video that would truly motivate viewers. It was a reminder that success in any creative project requires persistence.
Another challenge I didn’t expect was how time-consuming the editing process would be. I thought it would be quicker, but I quickly realized that downloading videos and audios, syncing audio to video clips, adjusting the pacing, transitions, adding text, and making everything flow smoothly took a lot more time than I thought it would. I edited for countless hours cutting clips, adding music, and re-watching the transitions. At first, it felt overwhelming, but as I worked through it I started to enjoy the creative part of shaping the final video. It definitely taught me how much effort goes into making something look polished.
Project Processes
The process of creating this fitness motivation video involved several stages, from planning and filming to editing and finalizing the video. First, I spent time outlining the message I wanted to get across and deciding on the specific clips I needed to capture, like showing workout routines, running, and stretching. After that, I worked closely with my photography mentor, Faith, to film and re-film all the video clips. We focused on getting the right angles, lighting, and energy to make each shot as emotion packed as possible. Once we had all the footage, the real challenge began, editing. I spent hours refining the clips, syncing them with my own clipped audio, and choosing the right music to enhance the overall impact. Throughout the process, I kept my goal of inspiring others in mind, making sure every step from planning to editing, stayed true to the vision of creating something motivating and relatable for a wide audience.
Overview of my Experience
Overall, the creation of this video was a challenging yet an incredibly rewarding experience. It pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and develop new skills, from filming and editing to sharing my personal fitness journey with others. While there were moments of frustration, especially with reshooting clips and the time-consuming editing process, I learned a lot about patience, perseverance, and the importance of attention to detail. Working with my mentor, Faith, was also a huge help, as I learned so much of the creative process and how to bring my vision to life. This project not only allowed me to express my love for fitness but also gave me a deeper appreciation for the effort required to create something that can inspire and motivate others.
Takeaways I Gained
The creation of this video taught me a lot of important lessons. First, I learned how much patience and persistence are needed, whether it was reshooting clips or spending hours editing to make everything just right. I got a better understanding of the entire process, from planning and filming to tweaking the final product.
Another big takeaway was realizing how powerful storytelling can be through video—how audio and music can really help drive the message and motivate. Most of all, this video as a whole reminded me why I love fitness and it has motivated me to keep sharing that passion on socials, while also teaching me that real progress, in fitness or anything else, takes effort and it requires you to “choose your hard”.
