During my undergraduate degree, I wondered what I should study so that I could be successful in my career. Along the way, I connected with someone that worked for a company in Learning and Development for Employee Success in their Human Resources department. As I talked with him, his job peaked my interest. I started studying strategic organization in the communication department at BYU-Idaho. There, I learned valuable information that could one day lead me to be in a Learning and Development role at a company. I talked again with this individual and asked what I could do to stand out after I graduated from college. He said that if I built a training handbook that a company could use, I would stand out to employers in my future. This book is that training. I made the choice to write a handbook on how leaders could build an efficient team with these three principles: socialization, communication, and transformation. I’ve seen firsthand that the most effective teams use these values, and I am excited to share them so other teams can use them too. I acknowledge that there are many other group dynamic principles that have not been included—there is always room to learn. But the purpose of this book is for leaders to have a starting point on how to lead a team confidently. I gathered information from credible sources that back my claims, thoughts, and opinions to reflect accuracy on the topic of teamwork.
