Sleep Study Party College Files

Project Purpose

The purpose of this project was to learn how to make a YouTube channel. People have seen a lot of success with YouTube. I wanted to see the process of making a channel, and to see how challenging it really is.

The Project

I decided to create a YouTube channel focused on the everyday lives of college students. I interviewed students about the craziest college stories they’ve experienced and also asked them how much sleep they get each night. This gave my channel with engaging content for viewers to enjoy.

Challenges Encountered

I encountered many challenges throughout this project. One of the biggest challenges was gaining views on my videos. One video received 1,900 views, while another received only 40. It was difficult to understand how the YouTube algorithm worked. Gaining subscribers was also harder than I expected. I set a goal of reaching 100 subscribers, but unfortunately, I did not reach that goal.

Project Processes

To start the project, I had to create an idea for my channel, which I called Sleep, Study, Party, College Files. Once the channel was made, I was able to begin creating content. Coming up with content ideas was fun, and I enjoyed going around interviewing students about how much sleep they get each night. I then tracked how many views my videos received and analyzed where the views were coming from, as well as which times of day were best to post. Doing this helped me develop a more strategic plan for my posts.

Overview

Overall, I had a positive experience working on this project. Despite the highs and lows, I was able to learn a lot. I do wish I had made more posts. Creating more content would have helped me better understand which videos performed well and which didn’t

Insights

My final insight is that creating a YouTube channel takes much more work than expected. People who become successful on YouTube put in the effort. While making a YouTube channel can be fun, it is also challenging. Creating content on YouTube is not for everyone.
