Adam’s Video editing project

Communication Practicum Project Report

1. The purpose of my project was to film, edit and distribute videos. It was meant to help me understand how that’s something I can use for a career in news/journalism after I graduate from BYU Idaho. My supervisor has a background in video and broadcasting so he was perfectly able to help me with my work and provide critique and feedback.

2. Here are some samples of my work on my YouTube channel.

3. The challenge was making a video that was long enough each day, so that I could complete the hours that my supervisor required for me to complete. Sometimes, my videos were too long to upload.

4. The way I made these videos was mostly I filmed myself, while also creating recordings of me playing video games. Afterwards, I would download the game clips onto my phone, then go onto Capcut, upload the video of myself, then I would upload the game clips as an overlay, export it, then upload it to YouTube.

5. I really enjoyed this experience because it taught me a skill that I didn’t think I would ever do. But thankfully, my supervisor helped me understand how to do it.

6. One insight I gained was that it gave my confidence in my ability to learn new skills. This is huge got me because I struggle with learning new things. But now I believe that with the right mentorship, I can succeed at anything.
