Caleb Christensen – Marketing the Market

My senior project involved organizing a marketing tabling event to promote the Anywhere Costco credit card and encourage people to sign up for the card. The event involved setting up a table in a high-traffic area, which was right at the front. We used various marketing techniques to attract potential customers.

The marketing techniques used included creating eye-catching displays and signage, offering free cooler bags and water, providing information about the benefits of the credit card, and engaging with potential customers in a friendly and approachable manner.

The goal of the event was to persuade as many people as possible to sign up for Costco Anywhere Visa Card by Citi. This involved overcoming objections or concerns potential customers may have had about signing up for a new credit card, and highlighting the advantages of this card, such as no limit on cash back rewards, zero annual fees, and other perks.

As part of my senior project, my team developed a marketing plan for the tabling event. We tracked and analyzed the results of the event, such as the number of people who signed up for the credit card, the success of different marketing techniques, and any feedback or comments from customers. We ended up getting 2nd overall in our district!

What’s great about this marketing team is they know there stuff and how to be successful! These awards they have only stay at the warehouse when they’re at the top for the quarter and they haven’t left for 2 years!

One of the main things I’ve learned is besides there is a lot of things happening behind the scenes to make something like this happen is working with the marketing/membership team to create how we wanted to set things up. I noticed instantly how much we made sure everyone felt apart of this process no matter what “position” you were. We made sure to meet together frequently so everyone was doing their job and if they needed help with anything. Another thing I learned that I never knew was the marketing/membership team is constantly selling whether it’s becoming a member, upgrading, or owning our credit card. They are always selling. 

Overall, my senior project was focused on applying my communication skills and knowledge to promote a product and persuade people to take a specific action, in this case, signing up for the Anywhere Costco credit card.

The way I spent my 50 hours: 5 hours was spent in figuring out my project, 5 hours to write the blog and film video, and 40 hours meeting together planning, prepping, behind the table, using the data, etc.
