DaBomb Sports Network

Hello! My name is Luke Christensen, and my major is Communication with an emphasis in news/journalism. I became a baseball fan at the age of nine, and I became a football fan at 12. Since then, I always wanted to work in the field of at least one of these sports. I eventually decided that I would become a sports journalist.

Website

I created a website in October 2020 and called it “DaBomb Fantasy Sports.” Since the football season was in full swing, I had the idea of specializing in fantasy football and writing about that. I wrote one article recapping Week Four of the NFL season from a fantasy football point of view, but that was the only article I had written for the website. For my senior project, I decided to dust off the cobwebs of my old website and start creating content again.

For this project, I used the journalism skills I learned throughout college, as well as my two internships. These skills helped me type articles with correct grammar, spelling, sentence structure, attribution, among other skills necessary to succeed in the journalism space.

Content

Since it is currently baseball season, I focused much of my content on baseball. I mainly recapped my favorite team, the San Diego Padres, and went into detail about each series of games in which they played. This meant that at least two articles per week were typed about the Padres.

Although it is not football season yet, I also covered football with some offseason topics including fantasy football preparation and free-agent signings. I also typed an article about whether or not the Chargers will go back to San Diego after moving to Los Angeles. This was the first article I had typed since my first and only article from 2020.

Future

For the future, I will continue to create content for the website. I would also like to grow the website and get more eyes on my articles. For my career, I would like to do similar work, whether that is for a professional sports journalism company or some other company where I can write about baseball and/or football.
