College of Eastern Idaho Testing Center Communications Guide Breidyn Neilson 2024 July

Project Purpose 

The CEI Testing Center suffered from a lack of communication between itself and the other departments. My main purpose was to create a comprehensive communications guide that the Testing Center and its proctors could use to improve internal and external communications with the other departments at CEI. From Early College involving Dual Credit Students, to Advising and Admissions where we send students following a test; this guide is designed to better assist Proctors in providing correct information to the testing candidates.

Challenges Encountered

The problems encountered in this Project started with the approval process for each department the guide had to go through before I could add another section. The section that took the longest to complete was Early College, the department worked with me extensively on their specific pages to make sure all the information was correct. My other problem came with the meeting times for the College and Career Readiness department. We would have a scheduled meeting but immediately have them reschedule pretty often. It was meant to be the third page in the guide, so once the process was approved it helped greatly with finishing up the rest of the guide.

Experience

The experience of meeting with the departments at CEI allowed me to understand the amount of work put into running the entire college behind the scenes. I loved meeting with the other departments and establishing these communication guidelines with them in an overall network. I think the process of this network was amazing as it allowed my fellow Proctors to learn about the importance of what the other departments at CEI handled, and how we can make it slightly easier for them.

Insights

I think this guide has made the Testing Center Communication improve in positive ways, and from my feedback from the departments we are receiving positive feedback on the guide. The application of its principles has also made it work greatly involving candidate related issues and questions. The communication of the Testing Center has improved, and has allowed for all of us to feel more confident with the job we are doing.
