“Always Watching” Short Film

Synopsis

My name is Doug Chandler and I chose to create a short film entitled “Always Watching”. “Always Watching” is about a father who is a role model to his son and does not realize how close his son is actually watching him. I wanted to make this short film to remind adults with children, but also individuals who want to become parents, that children are always watching your every move.

Things I Learned

Through this experience I have learned how arduous trying to do everything yourself is in this line of work. The skill of delegation is critical. In trying to do big projects, there are always places where you can and should delegate to others. I also learned that slow and steady does not always win the race. I learned that I needed to pay more attention to time management and the availability of others. Had I kept a constant pace, I would have had more time to find people to help lighten the load I still carried.

What I’d Do Differently

If I could go back and do it over again, my main thing would be to assemble a crew sooner than I did. Because I waited so long to start assembling a crew, I did not have as many people as I had hoped. The same goes for the cast, because I waited so long, I only had one actual actor and two novices that were not terrible but definitely not the best either.
