Apartment Website Design for AWO Management

Project Purpose or Objectives

The purpose of this project was to design and launch a professional website for a small apartment complex in Chandler, Arizona, managed by AWO Management. The goal was to create a modern, mobile-friendly site that could clearly communicate floor plans, pricing, leasing information, and amenities to potential renters—all while reflecting the personalized, family-owned nature of the business.

The Project

I created a five-page website that includes:

  • A branded homepage with custom content and images
  • Detailed floor plan visuals and pricing information
  • A leasing page with application instructions
  • A photo gallery with realistic renderings of the units
  • An “About” page highlighting the company’s 25+ years of local ownership

The site is built for easy navigation and responsiveness across desktop and mobile devices. A clear call-to-action allows users to inquire or apply immediately.

Challenges Encountered in Completing the Project

One of the biggest challenges was gathering visual content that accurately represented the apartment interiors and layouts. Since I didn’t have direct access to the property’s interiors, I used layout designs, AI-generated renders, and stock photos that closely matched the actual features of the units.

Another major hurdle came during the technical setup phase. I originally purchased a domain through IONOS and planned to connect it to a WordPress site to streamline development. However, I encountered a system glitch on IONOS’s end that prevented the domain from linking properly. I ended up spending several hours on the phone with their support team trying to troubleshoot the issue. Although the domain was eventually connected, the delay took valuable time away from content creation and design, and I had to make quick adjustments to stay on track.

Managing time around other responsibilities was also a challenge, but creating a structured development plan helped me move forward despite the setbacks.

Project Processes

I began by meeting with the management team to gather information about the property, including unit types, pricing, and leasing terms. I organized this into a content plan, then built out the site structure using a web development platform. Throughout the process, I worked with visual design tools to create mock floor plans and room visuals. Regular feedback from the client helped guide revisions and adjustments. The entire process included planning, design, content creation, testing, and publishing.

An Overview of the Experiences You Had

This project gave me hands-on experience in working with a real-world client, handling both the creative and technical aspects of communication. I was responsible for everything from brand messaging to UX decisions to layout design. It also gave me insight into how small businesses use digital tools to engage with potential customers—and how important clarity and professionalism are in that process.

What Insights or Takeaways You Have Gained from the Project

This experience taught me how to balance aesthetics with functionality. I learned how to communicate effectively with a client, transform raw information into user-centered content, and ensure the final product aligned with both business needs and user expectations. It also reinforced the importance of flexibility, especially when working with limited assets. Most importantly, I gained a polished portfolio piece and the confidence to take on future web or marketing projects for real businesses.
