Public Relations
For my senior project, I worked with a brand called Syphon. They create sound systems for motorcycle, ski, motocross, and all those kinds of helmets. Syphon is a brand with a pretty decent following online. They have nearly a quarter of a million followers on Instagram alone. However, they lacked a reason why to buy their product other than “it looks cool.” Their website and Amazon page talked about specs of the system, and they had some cool pictures, but they didn’t go into detail about how it could benefit a consumer or why they would want to create the product.
I found out from the owner that a lot of women buy the product for their husbands. So, I wanted to work on targeting them. I find that women like to do research about the products they buy, so I tried to optimize the content that would convince a wife that she should buy a speaker system for her husband. I did research to find safety and enjoyment data for driving with music and for communication in emergency situations. With that information, I created a pamphlet and several potential website designs to most effectively reach that audience.
The Pamphlet:
The pamphlet is the first part of my project that I completed. This would be something that could be handed out easily at an in-person event to familiarize someone with the brand and the benefits at the same time.
The Website Mockups:
I used different elements from the preexisting website to present the information that I had gathered in a way that would align with the current branding. Several elements are repeated across the variations, but each has unique content with its own strengths and weaknesses.
