Jacob Price – Strategic Organizational Communication
I learned very early on that I love to create things other people will see, follow, or engage with. When I was in high school, I made a sports social media page. And during college, I created a clothing brand. My passion for this senior project comes from the same place—the passion to create.
So, for my project, I created a podcast called Blue 42. Since I love sports, it’s centered around the game of football. In my podcast, I spoke about the NFL and college football. Each episode was focused on either game scores, rankings, or my predictions. Click here to find my Spotify page with each episode.
I recorded and edited 19 episodes using an app called Anchor. These were then uploaded to Spotify and Anchor. I also designed a logo and created a Facebook page where I posted two short blogs. In total, my episodes received 29 plays. My best day was September 28th when I received 9 plays. However, I believe it counts the number of times I’ve played one of my own episodes. If so, these numbers would likely be lower. Below is a picture of my logo and a few images showing my performance.

I spent over 50 hours recording, editing, and watching football games or highlights. Specifically, I’ve documented 50 hours and 15 minutes for this project. This was a fun, yet challenging experience for me. Especially in the last month, I’ve dedicated many hours to my podcast. It’s a time I will always look back to with fond memories.
The biggest lesson I learned from my senior project was the importance of resilience. While I love football, it was difficult adding this podcast to my already heavy load of work and school during my last semester. Especially toward the end, I worked very hard and did my best to ensure I met the requirements while still striving to produce quality content.
I’d like to thank my friends, Dallin Hack and Stockton Heiner, who were guests on a few of my episodes. I’d also like to thank my project mentor, Perry Rockwood, who gave me advice and was there for me when I had questions.
Lastly, an important skill I developed was working hard at something independently. When it comes to this project, I had no help besides the few episodes where I had a guest on the show. Other than that, it was all on me. Nobody could do all the work for me. Nobody could give me an exact template of how the podcast was supposed to go. This is something that I will take with me throughout my life and into my career. I can do hard things by myself.
The following is a complete accounting of my daily hours for this project. I completed the first roughly 13 hours and 41 minutes without knowing we had to keep a daily log. I kept track of my total hours, but not the individual activities I did to get to those hours.
So, since I don’t remember all the activities I did, on which days I did them, and how much was dedicated to the individual activities themselves, the first roughly 13 hours and 41 minutes are completed here by my best judgment. I also backtracked and added a few things that I did before October 15th which I didn’t believe I initially added to my total hours. Everything prior to October 15th is likely not completely accurate as to how much time I spent doing a specific thing. But I strived my best to ensure everything from October 15th to the present was accurate. Here is my accounting:
