Analise Jones – Anti Human Trafficking Conference Packet

Project Purpose

For this project I chose to plan and create deliverables for a mock Anti Human Trafficking Conference. I wanted to make sure that this conference was not only informative, but also created opportunities to network and raise money to fight against human trafficking.

The Project

I decided to put together a packet with everything needed to put this conference one. I included an invitation to the event, speaker bios, catering menu, venue information, and schedule for the day for both attendees and those working the event.

Challenges Encountered During the Project

I feel like I didn’t encounter any big problems throughout this project. The most challenging part for me was the research. There is so much information on this topic that it’s hard to decide what information is most important and should be included.

Project Processes

I started out with research. I wanted to be as knowledgable about the human trafficking issue as possible. I spent a lot of time learning about the problem. Once I felt like I was well-versed in the problem, I spent time researching the people who are already actively fighting this issue. I looked at organizations as well as individual people. I not only wanted to see what is currently being done, but I also wanted to know who would be beneficial to hear from at a conference like this.

After researching I began compiling my deliverables. I started out with creating my speaker bios so I would have all of the information for the other documents I would be creating.

I then began looking into venues and catering. I decided to host the conference in New York City. I decided NYC is a great place to host a conference like this because there are people who are willing and able to donate large sums of money to fighting human trafficking.

I wanted to add as much information in this packet as possible. I made sure to add in all of the venue information, catering information, and speaker information.

An Overview of My Experience and Takeaways

I really enjoyed this project. I learned that planning a large scale event is much more labor intensive than I thought it would be. Although I didn’t actually put this event on, I got a good look at how much work would go in to creating this event.
