My senior project was focused on skills that I gained with personal experience in my HR Recruiter role while working for a security firm here in Rexburg Idaho. While I worked in that role for around 2 years, I gained the experience that I was learning in my HR/Communication classes. These classes guided me down the path to this booklet. I was able to take my own personal experiences and mix it with the research that I found here in this booklet. I learned a lot about the corporate world and wanted to share that information with other new graduates moving forward. I want new graduates like me to have more confidence in themselves and their skills. I think being able to hire and having interview skills are something that everyone should learn! The goal of this booklet is to help people be introduced to recruiting in the corporate world.

My process for this booklet was mainly researching different topics every week and focusing on how it could be used in the recruiting world. I wanted it to apply to the world today and make sure it’s up to date and focused on the newest trends and helping companies with things like AI and sourcing different candidates. I completed 3 different informational interviews done with my past co-workers and HR managers to further the knowledge and experience in this booklet.
This booklet dives deep into the how and why of recruiting. It breaks down what makes a good job description, how to read between the lines in interviews, and what red flags to watch for. I also tackle the modern hiring essentials and how to use your instincts and your data to make decisions you can stand by. The most time I spent was focused on the booklet itself and making sure it was concise and put together. I had many experiences in HR that changed me for worse and for better and I think it’s so important for everyone to know the importance of recruiting and the role it plays in companies.
