My Project
As an aspiring life coach, I wanted to connect my passions for personal development, visual design, and writing, so I created a self-help blog called “Imperfect & Thriving”. My purpose of this blog is to share an authentic and vulnerable voice on the topics of self-worth, mental health, emotional well-being, and personal empowerment for young adult women. After running this blog for seven weeks now, I have been so touched by the many people who have reached out saying that they needed the encouragement and hope that my blog has brought to them.
Summary of Work
To build my project, I first designed my full branding that included creating a name, logo, color palette, and typography for my blog. I designed a website from scratch, bought a custom domain, and learned how to use search engine optimization (SEO) to increase my presence on Google and traffic to my site.
In order to research the specific topics my audience of young adult women wanted to read about, I put out three surveys on my Instagram stories where I asked them to vote on their favorite blog topics.
I rebranded my Facebook and Instagram with the same branding I used on my website, including my logo, color palette, and typography. I used both of those platforms to promote my blog by posting about my new blog posts every Wednesday. I also posted personal development quotes that I designed on my social media every Friday. To increase my social media engagement I shared emotional wellness tips on my “stories” daily.
I wanted to have professional-looking photos for my site so I had weekly photo-shoots and edited the photos in Adobe Lightroom using a consistent preset.
The most important part of my project was the writing the content that I published on my blog every Wednesday. Over the course of this project, I published 6 blog posts, which had over 900 views. I wrote about self-improvement topics like defining your own self-worth, processing through painful emotions, and showing your “true”self. The chart below shows the amount of views each blog post had.
