Project Description
For my project, I decided that I wanted to create a booklet with a list of different things I learned throughout college that I wish I would have known before I started my degree. I will start the booklet with an introduction to who I am and then the rest of the book will be written in the first person in sort of a story format. All the things I will list in the book will be followed with a reason why I believe it is important to know before college. At the end of the booklet I will write a part about how the list of things I learned in college are helping me now in my life and in my career. I’m hoping that this book will actually provide value to current college students and, specifically, students that are just starting out in college. As far as the actual design on the book, I will be using Canva to create and booklet. This will help me to be able to make sure each page goes well with the theme of the booklet. When it comes time to present the booklet, I want to print a few of the booklets and then blow up a couple of the pages that I love the most to display at the showcase. I also want to make sure that I have the booklet available in a PDF form so that it can be distributed to high school and college students for free.
To complete at least 50 hours for this project I will be doing a lot of reflecting on my college career but, I will also be doing research, figuring out how to best communicate my message, designing the booklet, figuring out how I want the booklet printed, editing the booklet, getting my booklet reviewed by others, meeting with my mentor, etc.
I believe that this project will help me to showcase several different skills. Some of those skills include design, writing, interpersonal communication and presenting. All of these skills have been developed while working to obtain my degree and I feel that this project will represent my capabilities well.
