Emily Christman – Chook Bar’s Internet Presence

For my senior project, I have been working with the popular Australian chicken restaurant Chook Bar. The Chook Bar is very popular with locals, and their popularity is mainly due to word of mouth. However, the Chook Bar has no internet presence at all. I feel like if the Chook Bar has a strong internet presence, it can increase their customer base significantly.

Because of this, I have decided to create a website along with a Facebook page for the business. The website has been made using SquareSpace. I chose SquareSpace because it gave for a very sleek website and the interface was user-friendly so that my client can make updates to the site in the future. I created a landing page, an about page, a menu page, and a location page. My client wants to appeal to a hip audience, because they are located in a popular spot by the beach outside of Melbourne, Australia. Because of this, I have consciously designed the website to appeal to a modern audience. I used a minimal “less is more” aesthetic and decorated the website with black and white photos of the area where Chook Bar is located. I have also worked hard in SEO to make sure my website pops up first when people look up the Chook Bar. I have checked Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and SquareSpace Analytics daily to monitor any significant changes in impressions, click rate, or visits throughout my project time.

I also created a Facebook page for the Chook Bar. The Facebook page has a link to the website and vice versa. The Facebook Page has all of the information clearly laid out for visitors to see, as well as a few posts made daily to increase engagement and interaction. These posts could also be used as Facebook and Instagram ads in the future if that is the direction that my client wants to go.

The last thing that my client asked me to do was to create a new logo for them. They did not have a logo that had any raw files that could be scaled. I created three new logo options in Adobe InDesign, and I have sent over the InDesign file, A PNG file, and a JPG version of the logo. I have also designed a few variations of the logo, for the Facebook header, website browser icon, etc.
