Ariel Crochets is a small business that runs the majority of its business through an Etsy shop. Over the past few months, Etsy has begun to raise its fees and prices. Ariel Crochets has struggled to keep up with its profits. As a result, they needed someone to put together a website and online shop to avoid these new Etsy fees.
I have been able to come in and design a new website according to their style guide. I included various pages on the website including an about me, blog, shop, and home page. The about me page gives the audience a better idea of who the owner of this small business is. It has various links to the company’s social media accounts. The blog was created with a few blog posts that I wrote for them to get going. The
blog section also includes a call to action for the visitors to sign up for the company newsletter. The shop includes patterns for the customers to pay and download as a PDF file. The patterns were originally on a website called Ribbler, but selling from this new website will avoid the fees as well.
Also included in the shop are a few completed crochet projects that the owner is willing to sell. Each item includes a picture and description. The website went live in June 2022, and there are already a few sales coming in. It is expected to be outperforming its old Etsy shop by the end of the year 2022. Part of my work with Ariel Crochets included working with their social media. They already had a large following of 3,344 followers on Instagram. After working with them and showing them how to run ads, their following has increased by 50 people. They have also collaborated with 5 other crochet creators on giveaways.
A yarn company also reached out twice to sponsor videos with their products. This all came about from the social media work that we were completing together. The biggest struggle came from creating a design on the website that was approved. The owner had a clear idea in her head, but she didn’t know how to describe it to me. I had to come up with various styles to see what she liked the most. In the end, we came up with something that we both really enjoyed.
