Project Summary
Connection – Students Helping Seniors is a service platform. ‘Connection’ comes from the need we have right now as human beings to find and have connection in new and innovative ways during this pandemic.
Starting as an idea for a one-night volunteering with an assisted living home turned full blown service platform and brand, Connection is supported by multiple homes in the Orem, UT area, including Cascades at Orchard Park and Summerfield Retirement. The problem is assisted living homes can’t allow family or guests in right now, creating an environment where the residents and staff feel lonely and bored. My platform solves this problem by collecting donations and offering things for the residents to do that they aren’t used to doing on a day-to-day basis. To illustrate, some examples include dropping off already addressed envelopes for them to send and in turn receive letter as pen pals, donating fleece for residents to make tie blankets for the Linus Project, and donating activity kits such as “build your own bird house.”
