Summer Sales and Team Training

By: Lindsey Nichols VanDrimmelen

Project Purpose / Objective

The purpose of this project was to not only help my client with his sales team but to also understand his career better. The overall objective was to create outlines for team meetings that my client could present each morning during their meetings. It was to also create a google docs training outline that had all of the material that the team members needed in order to train and succeed in their field. Another objective was to have a way to track what the team members were struggling with and what they needed to work on as a team.

Challenges Encountered

I faced many challenges during this project. Not only were they personal challenges like moving twice but they were also project related. I had to adjust my project many times because of changes to the team but also because the team changed location of selling. I originally had plans to create team building activities and planed them for a specific area and number of people. But because people quit and areas changed I had to recreate my project ideas. Another challenge I faces was the possibility of my client not having a team or even quitting the company. Because there were so many changes it was hard to keep on task and complete a project. But I was able to overcome these challenges and complete the project on time.

Project Process

The process on the project was fairly simple in essence. It was to first meet with my client and set up an outline for what I would be working on. Next it was to set up deadlines to make sure that I had everything completed on time before the official summer selling season started. I set specific days and times through the semester to meet with my client to show him my progress and make sure that it was to his liking and his expectations. I also made sure to let my client aware of any setbacks or completions that I had in order to make sure that I stayed on task and completed each category on time.

The Project

This is my completed project. Because I did so much on this project I will share links to take you to the final products of everything.

This is the link to the entire Google Docs that was created and then shared with the client and everyone on his team. Because it was for my clients team he was made owner of the google docs. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IU28N-cREoQ9ftiw–sI5E_6ei5HMnt5?usp=sharing

Overview of Experiences

Overall this experience was very stressful but a good experience. I was able to see and understand what it was like having a career where I had extreme deadlines and a lot to accomplish in a small time window. It was a good experience because I got to test out my skills of organization as well as get to understand programs like google forms and google docs more. I was also able to help my client which I know helped him feel less stressed.

Insights or Takeaways

Some takeaways for me would be to make sure that I have solid plans and start as soon as possible. I think another big thing to understand and take away is that even though you might come across challenges, it is okay. I would stress that I had to redo or change my project so much but, in the end I was able to complete this for my client. One last take away for me is that everything will work out in the end as long as you keep trying to do your best and make sure that you have really good and affective communication.
