Project Purpose or Objectives
The purpose of my website is to inform the local public about the Rexburg City Council. I provided coverage of meetings, along with information from each and quotations from speakers. I provided image that further enhance each article and allow the reader to make a personal connection with the information.
The overall purpose of the website is to give the truth and reliable information to the Rexburg public.
The Project
My project is a website covering the Rexburg City Council Meetings. I created this website and posted each article on a separate page.

Challenges Encountered
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend one of the meetings due to a week-long sickness. This put me behind on my work and I did not have anything to post for that week.
I also struggled to find interesting photos. I was able to take photos outside of the building but, unfortunately, taking photos during the meeting is prohibited for privacy purposes.
Project Processes
I found the idea for this project through my mentor and friend, Lane Williams. As I spoke to him about coverage that was needed in the area, he mentioned this beat and encouraged me to do what has not been done.
I began by organizing my posting schedule and corresponding with Lane and with SCROLL (a local newspaper) about formatting and editing. I then attended the first city council meeting and wrote the first article, with coverage for the next articles following every-other week. I also went on days outside of the set meetings to take pictures.
Throughout the semester, I sent articles to Lane and edited them thoroughly. Once my articles began to take form, I began organizing a website and formatted it to match the aesthetic of the city council. I began sharing the link to the website in public posts in order to share the website with others in the area.
Finishing the website involved a lot of editing and learning about how to make a website. I had not made a website before prior to this. I enjoyed learning about the processes of a creating the website and governing the creation of articles in order to inform the public.
Overview of My Experience
Creating this website and running it was a positive experience. I learned a lot through my in-field and at-home research about government, city council meetings, our city council members, different companies and corporations, marketing, and much more.
I also got to learn about how to write stronger articles, how to produce my own photography, and how to rely on myself for deadlines and editing. It was sometimes hard to find motivation on my own, but my love for writing and journalism helped me to continue.
