Project Purpose or Objectives:
The main purpose of creating a Social Media Kit for the company, CornerStone Moving and Delivery Service was to enhance the social media presence of my aunt, Iris, and my uncle, Joel Lopez, and to help grow their family business on Facebook and Instagram.
Key Objectives:
- Create a Situation Analysis (SWOT Analysis).
- Do research on the benefits and disadvantages of using Facebook and Instagram.
- Create a Facebook and Instagram Content Calendars: How often & what type of posts. (per month)
- Create their Facebook and Instagram Templates.
The Project:
My uncle, Joel Lopez, has been in the moving industry since the 1990s and eventually decided to turn his expertise into a family-run business. While they currently use Facebook to attract customers, their follower count and engagement are low, limiting their ability to grow. They don’t have an Instagram account yet. This is the point of creating the Social Media Kit. I’ll focus on improving their social media platforms to help expand their reach and boost their business.
October 6 – 19, 2024: Stage of forming the Social Media Kit. At first, I was trying to create their Facebook and Instagram accounts. I also, had several Zoom meetings with my aunt to discuss the do’s and don’ts of the Social Media Kit. I created the Situation Analysis (SWOT Analysis).
October 21 – November 2, 2024: Did research on the benefits and disadvantages of using Facebook and Instagram.
November 5 – 16, 2024: Create a Facebook and Instagram Content Calendars: How often & what type of posts. (per mouth)

Samples of Work:

Challenges:
I faced several challenges while creating the Social Media Kit for CornerStone Moving and Delivery Service. Initially, I spent a significant amount of time trying to set up new Facebook and Instagram accounts for my aunt and uncle. However, after struggling with the logistics, I decided to shift my focus to creating a Social Media Kit folder. This folder includes content ideas and essential information they would need to successfully launch their social media platforms in the future.
Another challenge I encountered was overcoming my own mindset. I struggled to use my creativity and think outside the box, which limited my ability to explore new ideas and approaches which affected my time management.
Project Processes:
1. Create a Situation Analysis (SWOT Analysis).
-Research and review their existing social media platforms to identify any content or elements worth preserving.
-Used their current logo.
2. Did research on the benefits and disadvantages of using Facebook and Instagram.
-Create a pros and cons list of using Facebook and Instagram for their family business.
3. Create Facebook and Instagram Content Calendars: How often & what type of posts. (per month)
-I used the month of December 2024, to write out examples of posts they could display on their Facebook and Instagram accounts.
4. Create their Facebook and Instagram Templates.
-The purpose of creating the Facebook and Instagram Content Calendar was to enhance CornerStone Moving and Delivery Service’s social media platforms and create templates. This should help them increase their publicity, foster stronger connections with clients, and support the growth of their business. I researched some similar companies to review their social media strategies to provide my aunt and uncle with valuable insights and actionable ideas for improving their social media platforms.
Overview of My Experiences:
Initially, I struggled with the challenge of staying motivated to create the Social Media Kit folder, as I often felt inadequate in fulfilling the role of a Public Relations Specialist. Over time, however, I was able to overcome these doubts by seeking guidance from my peers, asking questions, and learning from their insights, which helped me navigate my challenges and build confidence.
Insights and Takeaways:
One key insight I gained is that having constructive meetings with your client or clients fosters clearer understanding and helps develop a stronger vision of their expectations and needs.
A valuable takeaway from creating the Social Media Kit folder is realizing that there isn’t a single “right” way to approach it. The process is about conducting thorough research and dedicating time and patience to produce the right content for the client. It’s also essential to embrace the opportunity to learn from mistakes and weaknesses, turning them into growth experiences.
Conclusion:
The Social Media Kit is now ready to be delivered to my aunt and uncle. I plan to assist them in setting up their new Facebook and Instagram accounts, allowing them to implement the strategies and content I’ve created. I hope that this will help their business grow and achieve greater success across the United States as a family-owned moving and delivery business.
